Academic Partnerships

An important component of the educational and research experience at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at Hellenic American University is the establishment of collaborative arrangements with other Universities around the globe. These cooperative efforts are formally established through MOUs (Memoranda of Understanding) and MOAs (Memoranda of Agreement). Some of the most recent partnerships established by HAUniv on behalf of our students are highlighted below:

Western Washington University

Under the auspices of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), graduate and undergraduate students are provided the opportunity to be involved in field research in local Greek communities. Since 2008, HAUniv students have teamed with American students to undertake community service and research activities in Athens. An intensive program involving American and HAUniv students will be offered in late-August/September 2010 which will integrate applied interdisciplinary studies through lectures at the University and student field research on the island of Ithaka.

University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh

Since 2006, University of Wisconsin students majoring in education and human services have partnered to observe and provide assistance in several local Greek institutions (such as"Χαμόγελο του Παιδιού" -Smile of the Child). The next joint educational and community service experience is scheduled for the late-Spring/early Summer of 2010.

Franklin Pierce University (FPU)

Since 2007, HAUniv has hosted an annual student and faculty exchange program, commencing in late August each year. This Spring, a Theater Institute, enrolling an equal number of Greek and American students, was in residence at HAUniv to research, write, and perform a theatrical work based on historical and contemporary Greek themes. In late-August, a group of seventeen American students will enroll at HAUniv to participate in a joint academic offering, Athens Across the Ages, as well as selected courses in Communications. These programs are made available to interested HAUniv undergraduates.

Wagner College

A series of exchanges of students and faculty has occurred since 2008, involving American and HAUniv student visits, technology-supported instruction, and jointly-offered classes on both sides of the Atlantic. HAUniv business students have conducted interdisciplinary research activities to share with their American counterparts. A team of Wagner College graduate-level students will be visiting HAUniv late this Spring to continue this collaboration.

Tulane University

Since the academic year of 2008-09, Hellenic American University and the Freeman Business School of Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana have formed a partnership between the Professional MBA and Executive MBA respectively. This partnership promotes student and faculty exchanges in the areas of executive education, research, and other forms of scholarship.

University of Arizona

HAUniv has just negotiated an MOU to provide a vehicle for our students to participate in educational and research activities. Our initial collaborative activities will be in the areas of Public Health and Business. The University of Arizona, which is one of the twenty leading Research Universities in the United States approached HAUniv to commence this program.

Dnipropetrovsk National University

This prominent Ukrainian University has recently signed an MOU with HAUniv to create joint cross-cultural research program for faculty and students engaged in the fields of Psychology and Information Technology. It is anticipated that a joint research project involving both faculty and students will commence in late-August, thus necessitating student engagement in September and throughout calendar years 2010 and 2011.
