Information Literacy

Information literacy is a primary concern for Hellenic American University faculty and Library staff. All incoming students undergo an orientation to the Library’s resources before they begin their coursework and they are also provided with the Information Literacy Handbook, a guide to researching and using Library resources and free Internet tools.

Information Literacy Handbook

The HAUniv Information Literacy Handbook covers key research skills and learning resources. Whether the information it introduces is new or a review, these fundamental concepts are useful for any type of research one may do and will contribute to one’s success as a life-long learner.

The Handbook further describes in detail how to access information available by the University’s Library (e.g., OPAC; EBSCO database; Ebrary etc.). It intends to answer questions in a comprehensive and helpful way by providing a multitude of clear examples.

The Information Literacy Handbook is available either in hardcopy or electronic form.

Information Literacy Workshop

All students of the University are strongly encouraged to participate in an Information Literacy Workshop, which helps to reinforce their knowledge of basic search techniques as well as the Library’s information systems and databases. This Workshop is organized periodically by the Writing Center and Library staff.
