The University’s Campus Facilities:
Hellenic American University is located in central Athens, and is situated in the fashionable Kolonaki District of the city’s downtown. Our urban campus affords students the opportunity to pursue their studies in modern, well-equipped facilities set in close proximity to the inviting and historical environment that the Kolonaki District affords for culture, business, and leisure. The University’s campus facilities include:
The Academic Center at Kaplanon 12:
The University's main academic building is at Kaplanon 12. This facility houses most of the administrative offices, classrooms, seminar rooms and advanced networking computer labs, including the Union’s CISCO Networking Academy Program labs.
In addition to the Academic Center at Kaplanon 12, instructional and research facilities are available at the buildings of Kaplanon 10, Massalias 10, and Massalias 22. These buildings house traditional classrooms, as well as seminar rooms specially designed for collaborative learning. All University facilities afford access to the HAUniv computer network and Internet. A total of 180 computer stations can be found across the University’s campus.
The Translation and Interpretation Lab:
As linguistics has assumed a prominent role in the mission and development of Hellenic American University, the institution has made significant investments to make available appropriate, professional setting for training and testing our students in the areas of translation and interpretation. One such facility, the Translation and Interpretation Lab, can be found on the fifth floor of Kaplanon 12. The facility incorporates two soundproof booths, as well as audiovisual equipment and resources. The Lab is designed to simulate a formal interpreting environment.
The University at Massalias 22:
Hellenic American University shares the facilities of the eight-story headquarters of the organization from which the University first took root: the Hellenic American Union. Beyond housing the Offices of the University’s President and Executive Vice President, the building, located at Massalias 22, offers the following University facilities:
The Library:
Located on the fourth floor of Massalias 22, the Hellenic American University libraru is devoted to developing, protecting, and disseminating the University’s knowledge resources. The library also provides high-quality training, tools, technologies, and support to facilitate student learning and research, faculty scholarship, and the achievement of the University’s overall mission.
The Library houses over 30,000 titles in English and Greek. including a Rare Books collection. It has subscriptions to major academic periodicals databases that offer an online collection with more than ten million scholarly articles, more than two million dissertations, and over 60,000 digital books.

The Writing Centre:
Established in 2004 and located at Didotou 15, the Writing Center offers individualized assistance with writing. The Center combines innovative design and software with personal tutoring.
The Writing Center caters to the needs of University students for assistance in academic and professional writing. Tutors work with students’ onsite and online at all stages of the writing process and in all writing tasks. Services include assistance with:
- brainstorming and outlining
- text structure and organization
- grammar
- syntax
- punctuation
- spelling
- vocabulary
The Writing Center offers a computer workstation for each patron student; the Center and its staff serves as a key resource for the University’s innovative Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) program.
The Writing Center of Hellenic American University is also open to the public.

The HAU Auditorium:
Located on the second floor of Massalias 22, the University’s HAU Auditorium is operated by the Cultural Department of the Hellenic American Union for the benefit of the students, faculty, and staff of our entire learning community. The 250-seat Auditorium boasts a Dolby ProLogic Surround System, wireless simultaneous interpretation capabilities, as well as voting systems and Internet/network access. It has, on numerous occasions, hosted conferences and workshops, guest lectures, and film screenings for the University community, as well as the general public. The Auditorium also serves as a classroom, rehearsal, and performance space for HAUniv’s Music and Theatre offerings.
The Hadjikyriakos-Ghikas & Kennedy Galleries:
The Galleries, situated on the ground floor of Massalias 22, are operated by the Cultural Department of the Hellenic American Union. The Hadjikyriakos-Ghikas Gallery is named after a leading Greek painter and sculptor, and the John F. Kennedy Gallery is dedicated in memory of the former U.S. President. At 165 and 101 square meters, respectively, these facilities frequently house exhibitions, lectures, and talks, benefiting the University’s students and faculty, as well as the general public.
The Union Café:
Situated on the second floor of Massalias 22, in close proximity to the HAU Auditorium, is the Union Café’. Operated by local restaraunteurs, the Café’ is available to students and the entire University community for coffee, a light meal, or a full dinner. The menu is diverse, the food is excellent and reasonably priced, and the space is inviting and comfortable. Students are welcome to meet for coffee and socialize.
