Master in Science of Information Technology [MSIT]

The Master of Science in Information Technology program equips graduate students not only with advanced technological skills but also with competencies required in diverse business environments. Emphasis is placed on teaching contemporary and emerging trends in Information Technology through innovative courses and seminars as well as original research projects. The program further instils critical thinking, ethics and professionalism while developing competencies such as interpersonal communication, teambuilding, effective decision-making and project management necessary for future successful entrepreneurs and managers.

The MSIT is offered both as a full-time and as a part-time program. Classes are offered in the evenings from 6:00 until 9:00, and on Saturdays in morning sessions. Full-time students are expected to finish the program in 18 months, while part-time students need three years to complete their degree. New classes start in September, January and April of each year. A total of 36 credits (11 courses + Master Thesis) are required for the MSIT degree.

In the classroom, students will investigate the theoretical and the practical aspects of computer science using state-of-the-art methodologies and tools. Graduates will thus be able to identify the technology needs of an organization and to propose, implement and manage cutting-edge technological solutions. Combining high technical quality and professionalism with management competencies, graduates may be employed in software vendors firms as presales engineers, programming team leaders and product Managers or in Information Technology departments as CIOs, systems architects and network managers or in any company as technology specialists. Finally, several courses allow students to pursue professional vendor-specific certifications.

The MSIT program is appropriate for students with undergraduate degrees in computer science and other technology-related subjects; holders of graduate degrees in field such as business, computer science and information technology; and experienced IT professionals seeking to upgrade skills and understand information technology management issues.
