Undergraduate Admissions Procedures
Your application package must include the following:
- Application Form: Please print the application form, complete it and mail it to the admissions office. Be sure to complete the essay.
- Recommendation letters: Print out the recommendation form and ask two of your teachers or counsellors to fill it out.
- Official Transcripts: Ask your college/university to mail your official transcript directly to Hellenic American University. You may also submit it with your application in a sealed envelope. If you are a transfer student you will need to submit an official transcript from the University/College you have attended. Official copies of your degrees are also required.
- Evidence of English Language Proficiency: Evidence of English Language proficiency is required of all students. If English is not your native language you are requested to submit evidence of English language proficiency.
- A copy of your passport or I.D. card and two passport size photographs.
- A non-refundable application fee of €30.
- SAT and ACT scores, although not required, will assist the University with its decision.
Interview: Every application packet is reviewed individually. Therefore, it is important that we meet our students in person. If this is not feasible we will contact you and speak to you over the phone. The discussion will evolve around your personality, dreams, expectations and concerns.
Evidence of English Language Proficiency
Acceptable forms of evidence include:
- A high school Diploma and/or transcripts from an institution whose language of instruction is English.
- International Baccalaureate Certificate or Diploma.
- GCSE Certificate.
- IELTS with a minimum score of 6.5 and above.
- TOEFL exam with a minimum CBT score of 218 or minimum iBT score of 83 (minimum paper-based score of 560).
- A minimum TOEIC score of 760 for unconditional admission.
- A passing score of the HAU Advanced Level Certificate in English (ALCE).
- University of Michigan or Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English.
Non-degree Students (Special/Non-matriculated)
We welcome applications for non-degree status. A non-degree student (also referred to as a special or non-matriculated student) is one who is not pursuing a degree. Non-degree students are limited to a total of 30 credits (approximately 6 courses).
All application material should be either the original documents or notarized copies. Documents which are not in English must be accompanied by certified English translations.
All applications and support materials are retained by Hellenic American University. Once submitted, no materials will be returned to the applicant.

The University reserves the right to make inquiries concerning the accuracy of the information provided in the candidate’s application. Decisions on admission are made in good faith on the basis of information provided by the applicant and his/her referees. If the university later discovers that false statements have been made or material information withheld or omitted, it reserves the right to withdraw an offer of admission or to terminate registration.
The Hellenic American University Student Records Policy protects the privacy of student academic records. This policy is consistent with United States Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232G; 34 CFR Part 99); however, it does not abrogate any of the requirements of, or rights under, the terms of the 2472/97 Data Protection Act, enforced by the Hellenic Data Protection Authority.
