New programs offered by Hellenic American University

Hellenic American University is pleased to announce that, on March 1, 2007, the New Hampshire Postsecondary Education Commission voted unanimously to authorize the University to offer four new academic programs, which commenced in the fall of 2007:

The University has now began immediately to accept applications for admission to each of these programs.

Hellenic American University goes global!!Hellenic American University enrolls students from fourteen nations at our campus in Athens, Greece.

Hellenic American University celebrates its First Graduation Commencement!The landmark event was held on July 11th at 8 pm on the Rooftop Terrace of Massalias 22. The event attendees included degree candidates with their friends and family, all staff and faculty, and other graduate students. The key address was given by President Chris Spirou, who emphasized this historical moment. The Executive Vice-President, Leonidas Koskos, welcomed all guests and salutations were given by the Provost, Thomas Rocco. The graduates receiving their MBA degrees, conferred by President Spirou, were: Christina Contogiannopoulou, Fani Gkini, and George Pontikas.

2nd Athens International Conference on University Assessment: Assessing QualityThe Hellenic American Union in collaboration with public Universities from Albania, Bulgaria, FYROM, Greece and Turkey, organized the 2nd Athens International Conference on University Assessment: Assessing Quality. The conference brought together leading researchers in assessment, policy experts, and high-ranking accreditation officers from Europe and the United States in plenary talks and panel discussions. The conference was held in Athens, Greece on October 12-14, 2007at the premises of the Hellenic American Union. The contribution of the Hellenic American University in terms of work presented was:

Drs Laniti & Karampelas (in collaboration with Despina Konstas - Staff Psychologist and Adjunct Professor, Hofstra University, USA) presented on: “Students’ Criteria in Selecting a Graduate Program: Preliminary Data from Greece”.

Drs Koutoulas and Harkiolakis presented on: “An Automated Approach to Quality Assurance in Higher Education Institutions - The User Perspective”.

Dr Daskou presented on: “Quality Assurance or Quality Lapses?: The Case of the UK External Examining System”.

International Writing Centers ConferenceThe Writing Center at the Hellenic American University, in collaboration with the Center for Applied Linguistics and Language Studies of the Hellenic American Union, is organizing an International Writing Centers Conference entitled Revisioning Tomorrow’s Writing Center: Roles, Practices, Audiences on the 9th and 10th of November, 2007 in Athens, Greece.
