Student Support Services

Because the Hellenic American University’s admissions requirements are stringent, the coursework rigorous, and the expectations of its graduates high, the Hellenic American University is pleased to provide substantial scholarship assistance to its students. Strong on-going support from the Hellenic American Union makes possible significant student subsidies, which allow the University to offer its programs at a highly attractive cost. In addition to its academic backbone of eminent faculty, industry professionals, and internationally-known guest lecturers, a wide range of services and benefits is also available to students.

Library

The Hellenic American University Library offers resources and research tools in many fields of study. New technology infrastructure and software have been installed to better serve students, researchers, visitors, and the general public.

Information Literacy Handbook

Hellenic American University has designed the HAUniv Information Literacy Handbook which covers key concepts about research skills and resources to reinforce learning.  The Handbook provide a detailed description of what information literacy is, includes details about how to access information available through the university library, and intends to answer all questions students may have in a comprehensive and helpful way with a multitude of clear examples. The Hellenic American University promotes and encourages multidisciplinary research and the Handbook is intended to provide a baseline for students and faculty to work with. An electronic copy of the handbook is provided to all students during new student orientation.

Writing Center

The Writing Center at the Hellenic American University is an innovative educational and vocational service whose combination of cutting-edge technology and design, with experienced personalized tutoring make it unique in Greece and one of the few such services in the world.

Enrolled students can work with the Writing Center’s tutors both on-site and online and receive free assistance and guidance on any type of writing problem.

State-of-the-Art Facilities and Technological Infrastructure

Cafe

The University’s campus, located in downtown Athens, consists of six buildings, all within walking distance from one another other. The facilities include modern classrooms, auditoriums and conference rooms, computer labs, galleries, and dining rooms.

Conference

The Hellenic American University has one of the most advanced information technology infrastructure of any educational institution in Athens. IT resources include high-speed Internet access, e-mail, on-line course materials, wireless networking anywhere on campus, and high-end computer labs, with over 200 workstations available for students.

Academic Advising/Mentoring for Students

Academic advising/mentoring is an integral part of the Hellenic American University experience. It guides students toward the timely completion of their studies as well as the identification and fulfilment of their academic and professional goals. Academic advising is particularly important when a student enters a program; if and when a student experiences academic difficulty, such as probation or the possibility of expulsion; when a student is nearing graduation; and when he or she is working on his/her Capstone or other Field Project.

Orientation

Orientation provides an opportunity for new students to get acquainted with the University community. They meet faculty and fellow students, visit the facilities, receive useful information on their course of study and University services and activities, as well as participate in team-building exercises that help them establish relationships with other students. During orientation, students also receive basic training on technology resources available including library access.

Health Services

First aid services are available in the University facilities. A clinic providing a full range of health services is located within walking distance.

No health records or non-academic counselling records are maintained by the University as these services are readily available nearby by private providers. Academic and career counselling records shall be maintained by the student services support system in the Career Office.

Hellenic American University has implemented a University Registration and Student Record-keeping System.

Financial Aid & Financial Planning

Hellenic American University can help students apply for student loans from financial institutions.  Special financial arrangements are possible for employers who wish to finance their employees’ educational program. Complete information is available in the “Financial Aid” section.

Career Assistance and Developement

The Career Development Program of Hellenic American University supports a student’s career development through seminars and workshops that are offered to students and alumni. Services include guidance on résumé development, interview counseling; maintenance of job listings; a career library, and assistance in securing job interviews. In conjunction with alumni services provided,alumni employment records are maintained for statistical purposes, alumni networking and possible job reference and placement.

Student Activities

Hellenic American University works conjunctively with Hellenic American Union in offering an array of student activities that are intended to foster interpersonal communication, community, and leadership.  Current available activities include the following:

  • Student Governance – Student Council, Student Affairs Committee
  • Student Clubs & Associations – Students have formed several clubs or associations reflecting the interests of the students by program.
  • Arts & Culture –  Cultural activities at Hellenic American Union
  • Community – ECOfans; Special interest groups open to student involvement per request
  • Personal Development – Public speaking club (Toastmasters) and other seminars are available 
  • Sports and Fitness – Hellenic American Union\University soccer team
