Description

The MBA is offered both as a full-time and part-time program. Full-time students can expect to finish the program in 18-24 months, while part-time students will need 2-3 years to complete their degree, depending on the number of courses taken each semester. Each term lasts 12 weeks. New classes start in September, January and April of each year. Classes are scheduled in late afternoon, evening, and Saturday morning sessions. Some courses may be offered as weekend intensive modules to make attendance easier for students who are also working professionals. Courses, materials and faculty interaction are offered in English, exclusively. A total of 53 credits (16 courses + 4 credit Capstone Project) and completion of the cross cultural awareness module are required for the MBA degree. The academic advisor/mentor appointed to each student helps select the appropriate courses and relevant electives, as well as the order of courses to be taken, thereby designing a customized MBA program that fulfils the student’s individual needs and goals.

Main Features of the Program

Three key characteristics differentiate the Hellenic American University MBA program from MBA programs offered by other educational institutions. They are:

  • Flexibility: the Hellenic American University MBA program offers great flexibility in terms of pacing: participants may begin their studies as full-time students and then switch to parttime status -- or vice versa. By varying the number of courses they take in any given semester, students can plan their studies to accommodate work schedules and personal commitments. Courses may be taken in any order as long as the necessary prerequisites are observed. Furthermore, the MBA program welcomes students with backgrounds in areas other than business, as they can acquire requisite skills, knowledge and experience through the general skills.
  • Personalization: the Hellenic American University MBA allows students to design a graduate program that reflects their individual career and academic goals. Students ‘customize’ their degree through their selection of elective courses in the core curriculum as well as through their choices in areas of interest.
  • Market-relevance: Hellenic American University MBA students are exposed to a variety of real-life business situations through projects and case studies, as well as through the Capstone Project. As a result, they are especially well-equipped to face the challenges of the free market and to work effectively in both the Greek and broader regional economic and business contexts.

Program Overview

A total of 53 credits are required for the MBA degree. The academic mentor/advisor appointed to each student helps the student select the appropriate concentration and relevant electives from a variety of courses. In addition, the academic mentor assists in selecting the order of the courses, consonant with the student’s work and personal commitments. Working with the mentor, the student thus designs a customized MBA program that fulfils his or her individual needs and career goals. The MBA program is comprised of eight major components. They are:

  • Orientation
  • Core Curriculum
  • Electives
  • Areas of Interest Curriculum
  • Capstone
  • Cross-Cultural Awareness

Standard Program

The MBA program is designed to allow students to master the course material by sequencing the program into core courses, and electives over a five term period. Typically, each term runs for 12 weeks.

Electives may be taken during any of the five terms. The program concludes with a field-based Capstone Project that demonstrates a student’s ability to apply classroom knowledge to real world problems.

Students following the recommended program should complete their studies in approximately 18 months.

Customized Program

Depending on their professional and personal commitments, students may wish to accelerate their studies or take courses at a slower pace.  Working with their academic advisor, students may thus customize the pace of their program.

Hellenic American University’s unique MBA program goes beyond general management education by offering courses in four specialized areas of interest. Graduates of the program are equipped to compete for positions in all of these business areas, as well as for key management positions in any business setting.
