Students and faculty at the Hellenic American University enjoy a modern and fully technologically equipped learning environment. The University's campus, located in downtown Athens a few blocks from the Panepistimio metro station, is comprised of several buildings, all within walking distance of one another. The University's main building at Kaplanon 12 is a new building, construction of which was completed in the summer of 2004. It houses most of the administrative offices, classrooms, seminar rooms and advanced networking computer labs. The university also has seminar rooms, classrooms and computer labs at Massalias 9, Massalias 10, Kaplanon 10 & Massalias 22 -- this building also houses the library, café-restaurant and auditorium. The Writing Center is located at Didotou 15.

Classrooms and Seminar Rooms

All instructional facilities at the University provide full access to the University computer network and the Internet. The Kaplanon building alone has more than 500 network access points. This breadth of access provides great flexibility in teaching and conducting in-class student research projects. Instructional facilities include both standard classrooms and seminar rooms specially designed for collaborative learning.

Computer Labs

Students and faculty have access to more than 180 computer workstations throughout the facilities. Many of these are grouped in five computer labs; others are located in the library and seminar rooms. The University has two kinds of computer labs. Standard labs are available for most course and individual student work; more advanced networking computer labs are used in specialized courses. More information at Information Technology Resources.

Library

The University library is located on the 4th floor of the Massalias building. It includes a 365m² reading room and 20 computer workstations to access our vast store of digital journals and books, along with Internet access. The library facilities also include the Conference Room, a multi-purpose room that can accommodate work-groups or seminars.

Auditorium

With equipment such as Dolby ProLogic Surround System, wireless simultaneous interpretation equipment, voting system and Internet/network access, the 250-seat Auditorium hosts a wide range of events such as Conferences and large workshops, guest lectures, talks, film screenings for both the University community and the broader professional public.

Writing Center

Based on the principle of Collaborative Design, the Writing Center area, patented furniture, and equipment have been organized to allow for students' electronic cooperation in pairs or groups, without this prohibiting traditional one-on-one tutoring. The Writing Center software encourages computer-supported collaborative work, whereby students can share and exchange their written work.

Dining Facilities

The Union Café, located on the 2nd floor of the Massalias building, is open throughout the day and evening, and offers a range of selections, from snacks and sandwiches to full-course dinners. The Café is a popular meeting place, not only for students but also for professionals working in the center of Athens.

The Roof Garden Restaurant and Café, located on the 8th floor of the Massalias Buiding and with a view of the Acropolis and the Saronic Gulf, is often used for special student and faculty events.
